Windsurfing: The Fludgers-Felixstowe Wind Direction: wsw Wind Stength: 18/25 Surf / Sea State: very lumpy again Air Temperature: 19 Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny Max Speed: 27.62 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 15 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Woke to rain so not in any hurry to get down but at about 11:30 the sun
came out but when I checked the wind it was wsw - off at The Dip and
Landguard. I checked The Dip first, no good then on to The Fludgers (not my
favourite spot) where the Hurrells were in force rigging 6.5/7m but there
was no parking so went and looked at Landguard but there were fishermen in
both the groynes and the wind was cross off. David Coles had arrived by
then and we agreed that the Fludgers was the best bet if we could park. We
both managed to squeeze into a space and then it was trying to work out
what sail ??? with my 7m dead :( it was 6.4 or 7.8 - it didn't look windy
enough for the small sail so rigged big and it was okay until the wind
freshened later !!! I spent most of the session beating up to the Manor end
which was okay but again the sea was really lumpy :( I thought I would have
some fun sailing back broad but the wind had picked up and trying to sail
fast in this messy sea was challanging !!! My boom was too low to sail
broad at first but moved it up a bit which was better but still over
powdered with sailors at The Fludgers now on 6m !!! So I called it a day
when I got back as couldn't be bothered to rig another sail and I really
need a rotaional sail of 6.5 for bumpy Felixtowe - must check ebay. There
were at least 12 out enjoying the wind if not the bumps - not a bad day in
the sun again.
